What to pack in June safari

Seven years ago, when I was starting my career in tourism, I did not really understand which clothes I should advise my guests to bring when traveling to Africa. Because of that, it sometimes looked like I did not care enough about my guests’ health and comfort. The company (ACE TANZANIA TOURS) even had to buy some extra items like Maasai blankets and jackets just to cover my mistakes and avoid embarrassment.
Later, I learned that before advising a guest about what clothes to pack or which colors are suitable, it is very important to first understand the weather conditions of the destinations we will visit during the safari, and also the specific time we will be traveling — whether in the morning, afternoon, or evening. Ngorongoro Conservation Area (Fog in some Locations).

Now, as we begin the month of June, the rainy season has slightly reduced. However, in places like the Ngorongoro area, the mornings and evenings are still very cold, with fog in some locations due to the geographical morphology of the region in destinations such as Tarangire and Serengeti, there is also cool weather, although it is not as extreme as Ngorongoro. Ace Tanzania Tours’ Guests are therefore advised to carry a light sweater or a windproof jacket for comfort during the safari.
Lightweight long trousers together with long-sleeved shirts or T-shirts are highly recommended, especially in areas like Tarangire, to help protect against tsetse flies, as their bites can be painful. A wide-brimmed hat is also important to provide some protection for the neck and shoulders from the sun.
In Serengeti, if you prefer, wearing shorts and short-sleeved T-shirts is also comfortable and suitable for the weather conditions. However, guests should not forget sunglasses, especially while in Ngorongoro, where dust can easily affect the eyes during the safari.
Strong and comfortable shoes are recommended for safari activities, and carrying sandals or slippers is also a good idea for relaxing at the camp or lodge after the day’s activities
